Due to a slew of reports, which were "one-sided" opinions by the media,

I have added this page to my site in order for you to make your own

FULLY INFORMED decision on this issue.

BEFORE YOU JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS ABOUT THESE REPORTS,

PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THESE FOLLOWING STUDIES AND RESEARCH ITEMS THAT CLEARLY STATE:

POLYMER CLAY IS A SAFE PRODUCT WHEN USED PROPERLY!

This is a direct answer from Polyform Products Co. The makers of Sculpey Brand Clays:

"Thank you for your question.  All of the Sculpey clay manufactured by or sold by Polyform Products Company are of the highest quality.  Safety is and always has been our number one priority.  All Sculpey clays are certified non-toxic and approved to use the AP non-toxic seal by The Arts & Creative Materials Institute (ACMI).  For further information you may contact them directly at 1-781-293-4100 or visit their website at:  http://www.acminet.org"

ACMI PRESS RELEASE issued July 30, 2002  -  CLICK HERE

This is a portion of the Press Release which provides further online information.

Woodhall Stopford, M.D., principal toxicologist of the ACMI Certification Program, stated that “Phthalate esters found in these polymer clays offer little or no acute toxicity concerns and are not a chronic hazard concern even assuming a large (24 mg) daily ingestion of these clays.  Dr. Stopford’s risk assessment, as well as an executive summary, are available on the DUKE website at http://duketox.mc.duke.edu.  Simply click on “Recent Toxicological Issues” on the home page and then polymerclays1.doc for the risk assessment or polymerclaysummary.doc for the executive summary.
