This cane was constructed using the small square 

Darlin' Designer Disk™ from the Geometric Kit

STEP ONE

Extrude one length each of a contrasting color and two lengths of a third color.  Most gingham prints utilize a shade in between the light and dark colors as shown above. 

STEP TWO

Cut the clay into two even sections.

STEP THREE

Place one length

 

STEP FOUR

Cut this length into two even sections and continue to form the pattern until it looks like the final photo below.
